Lights On
The Niagara Falls City School District held its annual Lights On After School Campaign to promote after school programs across the nation and here in Niagara Falls.
The District participated in the festivities with guest speakers Police Chief John Chella, Fire Chief William MacKay, School Board President Robert Kazeangin among others. Special guest Nickel City Reptiles and Exotics were also on hand.
Mr. Kazeangin lauded the program saying it 'gives our young people a safe, supervised encironment in which they can get homework help, a snack, and most importantly, time with their peers to relax and have fun. "We ask a lot of our students: academics standards are higher than ever, parents are working longer than ever, and our streets are not as safe as they used to be. Our youth need a place to interact, to scoailize , and to be saf.e A place to be kids.
The free program runs from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm Every Monday through Thursday during the school year. A snack is served daily and busing is provided. Certified teachers, board presentations, board employees and the Niagara Falls Housing Authority comprise the staff.
